Being Passive in Aggressive Ambients

When considering how popular media can serve as a tool to maintain gender ideologies we can make note of how weapons in a highly industrialized nation serve as protection for a violent society that reproduces the values it normalizes with weaponry and conquering above all with warfare. Although female protagonists can take lead roles…In his Ted Talk,  Colin Stokes mentions that male protagonists still make up the majority of films consumed by world audiences. Although there were a few female based protagonists, these American films  have the ability to inject dominant ideologies on world cultures through the use of cute images and characters to reinforce that softness of their imagined survival. Sellnow mentions that we should be critical of studying popular culture in both old and new media, digital and physical to understand how the use of signs can be embedded in artifacts of being pacific and cute but also violent and dominant.

When considering the use of weapons of signs of mass destruction but the softness of these characters animators use with them, do you believe these characters as symbols of happiness can improve the development of less violent future generations if new peaceful hand articles are used to combat the bad rather than with the simple use of weapons of mass destruction?
